Guidance for Avoiding Event Scams

One of the unfortunate outcomes of organising a mega event like IEE Series 2024 is the attraction of scammers. Before the event, these individuals focus on exhibitors, attempting to sell hotel accommodations and directory listings that do not exist, and falsely claiming to provide a list or database of attendees.

Ensuring data protection is our top priority. Information about participants and attendees at all our events, including IEE Series 2024, is strictly safeguarded and will never be sold or made available for sale. Additionally, we want to reassure our participants that any data collected from you will never be shared with a third party without your explicit consent.

If you receive an email from someone claiming to be a sales agent and offering a list of registered attendees for IEE Series 2024, please note that this person is engaging in fraudulent activity.

If you encounter any suspicious communications, please contact us immediately at [email protected]

It’s important to remember that we never sell the data of our visitors or exhibitors. Anyone who claims to possess this data is engaging in FRAUD.

Top Types of Scams to Look Out For :

  1. Emails that propose free listings in directories
  2. Emails selling data reportedly from IEE Series 2024 or our partners
  3. Requests for updated banking information through phone calls or email
  4. Social media messages requesting favors or impersonating members of the show team

How To Stay Safe

  1. Verify the sender’s email. Emails ending with @informa.com, @pamerindo.com, @iee-series.com, and @pamerindoindonesia.com are the ONLY domains we’re using
  2. Verify whether the individual or company is listed as an official partner in the online manual
  3. Evaluate the language for any unusual clumsiness or deviation from the usual tone of IEE Series 2024

What To Do If You Think You Are Being Scammed?

  1. Do not reply to the email or click on any links
  2. If you receive a suspicious call, end the conversation as soon as possible
  3. Contact us at [email protected] so we can verify if the communications are a scam

I’ve Fallen Victim To A Fraud. What Do I Do?

If you become a victim of fraud, it’s crucial to immediately cease all communication with the scammer. Continuing the conversation could give them more opportunities to target you for further payments.

We would also advise that you:

  1. Reporting the incident to your local authority
  2. Do not pay anything
  3. Do not respond to any communications regarding legal actions
  4. If you have already made a payment, file a complaint with the receiving bank indicating that their client is engaging in fraudulent activities

If you have any concerns about the legitimacy of suppliers contacting you, please feel free to contact us at any time
